Terms of use
The rules for using Dermata, in plain words. Last updated: 25 October 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and DERMATA LIMITED ("we"). They cover this website and the Dermata app. By making an account you agree to them. Please read our privacy page and the full privacy policy too.
2. Who can use Dermata
You must be 18 or over and live in the UK. One account per person. Keep your password private, because you're responsible for what happens on your account.
3. What Dermata is, and what it isn't
Dermata uses your phone camera to give a rough guide to how your skin looks, like shine, redness and dark circles, and suggests an affordable routine. It is not a medical device and not medical advice. It can't diagnose any skin condition, and results change with light and camera. If you're worried about your skin, a mole or a reaction, speak to a pharmacist or your GP, or call NHS 111.
4. Products and shops
We suggest products that other shops sell. We don't sell them, so the shop is responsible for the product, delivery and refunds. Prices change, and we check them regularly, but a shop's price may be different by the time you look. Always read the label and try a new product on a small patch of skin first.
5. The skin coach
The coach gives general skincare information. It can be wrong, so don't rely on it for medical decisions. There's a daily limit on messages, shown in the app. Safety answers are always given and never count towards the limit.
6. Price
Dermata is free to use right now, and you don't need a card. If we add paid features later, we'll show the price and the terms for them clearly before you pay anything, and we'll update this page.
7. Fair use
Don't misuse Dermata. That means no trying to break in, copying or scraping the app or this website, scanning other people's faces without their permission, or sending abusive messages. We may suspend an account that does, and we'll tell you why.
8. Our responsibility to you
We provide Dermata with reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, for products you buy from other shops, or for decisions made only on scan results or coach answers. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights as a consumer, or limits our responsibility for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
9. Changes and ending
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies. You can delete your account at any time on the Me page in the app. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why.
10. Law
These terms are under the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
